The moment you've all been waiting for...

Yes, here he is. The very lovely Joshua George Wills for you to coo over at your leisure! He's a few days old here.

And here's him with his lovely parents, Gavin and Lucy.

Dave and I saw him when he was 10 days old. He was very well behaved - is already sleeping fairly well. And he was also able to hold his head up for a little while - impressive, he's going to be an advanced child Lucy tells me!

Anyway, how great is Dave with Josh? He's gonna make such a fab uncle, and an even better Dad, although a long way into the future! You can just see it though can't you (or is that just me? Please say it's not...!)

Not the best pictures of Dave or me - both having an utterly un-photogenic day. But then, it's not us you're looking at anyway!!

Swinging hot and cold...

Apologies for lack of baby pictures. I'm afraid I as yet have none, as my sister has been ill and had to head back into the hospital for a bit so their household has been a little manic. However, I shall hopefully be heading to see the small one soon, so as soon as I have pictures, you'll have them!

Well, it's been a while since I did a random post, so we're gonna do a general 'what's hot and what's not in Rachel's world' today - fun!

HOT: Loving my new car - it's another clio, very pretty shade of purpley-red, and just enough bigger than the 106 for me to feel more safe on big roads!

NOT: Night time. This week I've been sleeping (or perhaps not sleeping would be closer to the mark) really badly. Very frustrating lying in bed awake for 8 hours and then having to get up and manage a day at work. Even more frustrating to do it for 3 nights in a row. Luckily, or more accurately by God's grace, I had a good sleep last night - very good job, otherwise I think I may actually have just collapsed part way through today!

HOT: Friends and family. Loving having a nephew, even if I've yet to see him! Dave and I went to Helen and Dave's for lunch last Sunday too, which was ace - good to catch up with them. And we were at Vicky's 21st birthday party on Saturday night (congrats Vix!), which not only was a great opportunity to celebrate with Vicky but also to catch up with school friends I hadn't seen for ages. A couple of pictures courtesy of one of those lovely ladies, thanks Hol:

The ladies from school, plus sundry menfolk

The lady herself

Dave and I - just cos it's a good excuse to put a picture of us up!

I also had Cat come and stay last week - muchos fun, good chats and laughter. Love you girl.

NOT: Work :-( I've been feeling a little lost recently, underpaid, undervalued etc etc! I've been feeling liked I've lacked direction, but I've spoken with both my boss and his boss today, and they're both pleased and excited about the work I've been doing, and that's given me a clear way ahead, which is a great encouragement.

HOT: Dave - Dave is always hot. But I don't tell him enough, so here it is. You've been particularly ace this week when I've been sleepy and incoherent, thank you.

NOT: Grey sky - I just don't like it! i can cope with cold, and wind, and rain usually (especially with a car!), but to go a whole day staring out my office window at grey sky is tres depressing.

HOT: Country music - yes, really. Apologies to all ladies I have at some point studied music with, but I'm really loving it at the moment. My boss is a fan, so all day most days we have playing in the office, and I've been converted. Please don't disown me, please...

Just call me Aunty Rachel!

Yes, it's true - I'm an now Aunt :-)

My not-so-little nephew, called Joshua George, was born at 3pm today weighing 9lb 10oz - bit of a bruiser then! Big congratulations to my eldest sister Lucy and her husband Gavin. I know you're both going to be fantastic parents, and Lucy, I'm so proud of you for doing it alone.

Awwww, a baby I can play with and spoil without having any responsibility or nappy-changing duties - without a doubt the best way they come!

I will post a picture as soon as I have one. In the meantime, please join me in my excitement and joy :-D

It's 2006

Well, happy New Year all and sundry. Hope you had a fabulous festive time and found a fitting way to welcome in this brand new annum.

I could write a long and relatively uninteresting day-by-day account of my holiday, but I shall spare you the specific details! Suffice to say I had a lovely time, highlights being:

- Catching up with all the family, never a dull moment! I miss them all so much when I'm away for such long periods of time - ah, the perils of growing up.
- Lots of fabulous Christmas presents, too numerous to name, but lovely
- Having my Christmas extended by a day as I went to Dave's family on Boxing Day and received presents and took part in further mammoth eating contests, as is customary at this season of the year
- Finding a new car! Found out in the last couple of days that we have managed to secure it, so hopefully I shall be the owner of a nice sparkly car by the end of next week!
- Singing in the kids carol service at my home church. I did go back with every good intention of having some time off and not getting involved in musicness, but hey, I was asked and I love doing it :-) Always ace to sing God's praises on His birthday!
- Having friends whom I hadn't seen for far too long over to see in the New Year in a very civilised but really lovely manner.

Well that really is all very generic, but I'm sure you can't cope with much more. I've had an exciting start to work this year too, which is why this post's been a few days later than planned - was sent home at lunch time on my first day back at work due to more chest pains. However, a fun fun trip down to the Dr yesterday diagnosed me with something painful but far from life threatening, which is all good. Just have to keep the painkillers coming regularly!

Well, start a New Year as you mean to go on, I always say - just don't tell my bosses... ;-) Hope you all have a good one.
