Life update

Hey troops. I know I'm rubbish at this whole blogging thing, but I am trying to keep it ticking over. And this is my third post in a month, that's pretty good going for me!

So, things going on in my life at the moment:
  • God is good. God is always very good, but sometimes we're (I'm) just better at noticing it. Thank Him that He is steady and unchanging, unlike us!
  • There are exactly 67 days left until I get married to the most wonderful man in this world - wonderful because he sends me beeeooootiful flowers for no reason, is willing to listen when I'm worried and/or freaked out (last night a prime example, thanks Dave), is strong where I am very very weak and gives the very best hugs in the world. Hooray :-) Isn't it amazing how God molds and shapes our partners to be exactly who we and He needs them to be? Something that's blowing me away at the moment.
  • I have 7 weeks left at work, which in some ways is a good things cos there are so many exciting things to move on to, but also quite sad cos I'm gonna miss so many people. God has blessed me with some very special friends through this year, and has used them powerfully in many areas of my life - to challenge my thinking, to support me through tough times, and to remind me primarily of His goodness. Christ Church has been a haven to me this year, and I also get on so well with my colleagues, it's been fantastic to be able to talk openly about church and my life, and to answer a fair few questions relating to God and the gospel, and the gospel-driven life that I aim to live. Please pray that more of these opportunities would be presented in my last few weeks here, and that the Holy Spirit would be preparing hearts.
  • My Mum is doing a stirling job on all things wedding. My dress is very nearly done, flowers are thought about, cakes are baked and waiting to be iced, invitation replies are coming in thick and fast... I have been blessed with a truly talented Mum. Thanks Mum, you're a star.
  • I still have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do after I graduate. I not really worried about it, more excited to see what God's got in store. But if anyone gains any heavenly insight I'd love to know!
  • I like herbal tea. A lot.
  • Dave and I have a flat to live in next year - yay! We found out a couple of weeks ago, it's exactly what we wanted in that it will allow us to show hospitality but is not as expensive as it could well have been. So make a date and come visit!

Enough for now. Have a happy 4 day week everyone!

Birthday Fun!

Yes, that's right, I have now hit the very adult age of 21. Scary stuff! As has Dave - his birthday is 8 days before mine (here starts a life of joint birthday presents, methinks!), so belated happy birthday my honey.

So yes, basically I had my birthday and it was much fun. I had drinks with famly and friends on Saturday evening, and then had the family plus an honoured Esther but minus brother-in-law Dave for lunch on Sunday. We also heard our banns read on Sunday morning in Church, which was pretty cool. Made it feel momentarily very real!

A great opporunity to take lots of pictures (with our newly replaced digital camera, how exciting!), so I thought I'd take this opportunity to introduce you to various members of my family:

We'll start with the obligatory picture of Dave and me, just so you've go it out the way. This is us at the pub on Saturday night:

This is my lovely Mum, Jenny. She hates this picture, but hey, never mind!

And here is my oldest sister Lucy and her husband of 2 and a half years, Gavin:

My Middle sister Helen:

...and her husband of nearly 6 years (wow!), Dave:

And, of course, there's baby Joshua who is now 4 months. He's so cute!:

So there you have it, my family in a nutshell. One day soon I shall give you the lowdown on some friends too. If you have a violent desire not to be featured then speak now or forever hold your peace!

Love and hugs all. God Bless xXx
